EV Battery Management: Summary of Practices & US State Policy Trends
In early 2025, Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) engaged Call2Recycle for a project to research, report, and recommend different program options and OEM readiness practices for regulated/non-regulated EV battery take-back programs.
The Q1 2025 Final Report presented to SP included four deliverables:
- EPR Readiness: Summary of Regulations Pertaining to Handling EV Batteries
- EPR Readiness: Take Back Program Types and How They Operate
- EPR Readiness: Principles & Internal Planning Checklist
- EPR Readiness: Proceeding forward and recommendations to SP
We are pleased to share the following executive summary of current practices and EV battery EPR policy trends excerpted from the final report. SP’s intention is sharing this summary is to provide information to support companies within the automotive value chain on preparing for EV battery management policy trends.
