SP Introduces Action in Support of Water Reuse Action Plan (WRAP)

The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) is pleased to share a new initiative in support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Reuse Action Plan (WRAP) 2.0.

Water is both an essential operational input and a significant factor in long-term resilience, environmental performance, and shared community value across the automotive industry. Water needs across industry are evolving quickly, and SP welcomes the opportunity to engage in collaborative efforts to advance water reuse and support stronger water resilience.

Water stewardship is already an important area of focus for many companies across the automotive value chain, and SP has supported this work through a range of member-driven guidance documents, tools, and initiatives related to measuring, managing, and stewarding water resources.

Building on that foundation, SP has introduced a new WRAP action, Identifying Opportunities to Advance Water Reuse in the Automotive Value Chain.

At every stage of the automotive value chain, water is both an essential operational input and a resource of shared value to companies and the communities in which they operate. Recognizing the importance of water resources to automotive manufacturing, supply chain resilience, and environmental performance, SP will explore opportunities to support greater understanding and advancement of water reuse practices across the sector and its supply base. As an initial step, SP will convene relevant stakeholders to discuss water reuse needs and opportunities in the automotive sector and to identify next-phase outputs, which could include industry-specific case studies, guidelines, or other resources reflecting industry priorities.

Through this action, SP looks forward to highlighting automotive sector leadership in water stewardship while identifying practical opportunities to support continued progress on water reuse.
