Congratulations to Suppliers Partnership member Johnson Controls for being recognized by Environmental Leader with the Environmental Leader Project of the Year and Top Project Judges’ Choice Award for 2019.
MILWAUKEE (May 16, 2019) – Today Johnson Controls announced it has received three noteworthy awards from Environmental Leader (EL) and Energy Manager Today (EMT). Presented during the Environmental Leader & Energy Manager Conference (ELEMCON), Johnson Controls won both the Environmental Leader Project of the Year award and the Top Project Judges’ Choice Award for its partnership with The University of Hawai‘i (UH) Maui College. Additionally, Terrill Laughton, vice president and general manager of Energy Optimization and Connected Equipment for Johnson Controls, was named an honoree on the organization’s annual Environment + Energy Leader 100 list.
The annual EL and EMT Awards recognize the most innovative and successful products, projects and companies in the energy, environmental and sustainability industry, selecting winners based on the success of their project, capabilities of their product, or by its impact on the industry. The judges recognized Johnson Controls partnership with UH Maui as the top environmental project of the year for its impressive strides in sustainability and renewable energy. By the end of 2019, the UH Maui campus will generate 100 percent of its energy on-site, through solar photovoltaic systems coupled with battery distributed energy storage. Four UH community college campuses will also use Johnson Controls solutions to significantly reduce its fossil fuel consumption. As a result of the partnership, UH is guaranteed to produce more than $79 million in energy savings over 20 years.
