On January 16 at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI, Gage Products Company awarded the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) for its environmental stewardship in working with OEM’s and suppliers to enhance sustainability and corporate social responsibility. SP Executive Director, Steve Hellem and SP Vice Chair, Russell Brynolf, CEO, FTS Technologies accepted the award on behalf of SP.

The award was presented during a quarterly forum of SP where nearly 150 automotive suppliers, OEM’s and government representatives gathered to work together, learn from each other and share environmental best practices to improve the environmental sustainability of the automotive supply chain. Speakers during the meeting included leaders of SP member companies, and invited guests such as Jim Jones, Acting Assistant Administrator and Matt Bogoshian, Senior Policy Counsel of the US Environmental Protection Agency; Veronika Scott of the Empowerment Plan; and, Dennis McGavis, board member of the Sustainable Purchasing Council.

Gage presented the award to SP in honor of the 25th anniversary of the company’s closed loop purge solvent recycling program, and SP’s support in helping Gage achieve this landmark. A global leading provider of closed-loop processes for solvent recycling for automotive paint and other applications, Gage pioneered the development of sustainable closed-loop manufacturing processes 25 years ago. By prioritizing its efforts in its closed loop solvent recycling system and developing ultra-low VOC purge solvent blends, Gage is able to promote sustainable product alternatives through repurposing what was once considered waste. Several SP member companies participate in Gage’s recycling business.

“Gage is pleased to honor the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment for its ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability in the auto supply chain,” said Mark Wiseman, Director, Sales and Marketing for Gage Products Company.”SP’s commitment to bringing OEM’s and suppliers together to further discussions and promote action has not only helped Gage advance our sustainability efforts, but many other companies in the supply chain as well.”

“We are very honored to receive this recognition from Gage Products, and to share in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of this leading recycling program established by an SP member company,” said Steve Hellem, SP’s Executive Director. “We are fortunate to have a number of leading small, mid-sized and large automobile suppliers and manufacturers as members of SP and they, like Gage, are committed to doing the right thing for the environment while at the same time enhancing economic opportunities for their companies,” Hellem added.
