  • 3M and BASF Coatings Join Forces to Define Sustainable Collision Repair Practices, 3M and BASF’s Coatings division announced a collaboration to co-develop and deliver new standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training content to the collision repair industry. The new SOPs will be tailored to help body shops achieve greater sustainability and productivity within the automotive refinish process. Click Here
  • FinDreams Battery and Circulor advance readiness for EU Battery Regulation through recent joint project, FinDreams Battery and Circulor have successfully delivered on the Global Battery Alliance pilot, as a step towards preparing for the EU Battery Regulations.   • A Glance at Three Award-Winning Reuse Innovations, Cummins launched a returnable packaging program using RFID tracking to reduce packaging waste, streamline asset movement, and cut labor costs across its facilities. This initiative, implemented with partner Surgere and extended to suppliers, aligns with Cummins’ sustainability goals and has already earned recognition from the Reusable Packaging Association.   • Honda Executive Bob Nelson Named Automotive News All-Star for Leadership in Honda Sustainability Efforts, Bob Nelson, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM), has been named the 2024 Automotive News All-Star in the Sustainability category. Nelson was recognized for his leadership as Honda works toward the company’s global goal of zero environmental impact by 2050. Click Here
  • Penske Truck Leasing Lights Up New Solar-Powered Facility Initiative, Penske Truck Leasing is lighting up a new solar-powered initiative seeking to boost efficiency, minimize energy costs, and reduce emissions initially at select truck leasing, truck rental, and truck maintenance locations in the U.S. with the installation and activation of its first-ever rooftop solar-powered systems.   • Renewable Energy Shines at Toyota Alabama, Toyota takes one step closer to carbon neutral operations with the addition of a 30-megawatt solar energy system at its Alabama plant. Toyota Alabama, Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. (TAI) and Huntsville Utilities, celebrated the completion of the $49 million solar project – made possible by a joint power purchase agreement (PPA).  Click Here

  • New SP Guidance on Waste Metrics for Automotive Operations, SP announced the availability of a new guidance document, “Core Waste Metrics for Automotive Operations”. The purpose of this new guidance document is to outline common automotive industry-supported definitions and approaches for measuring and reporting on the management of waste generated within the boundary of the owned activities of the reporting organization, consistent with those approaches outlined in established corporate sustainability reporting standards and frameworks.  Click Here
  • Pollution Prevention Resources for Auto Industry, Supported by the US EPA, WHC (Wildlife Habitat Council) and Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) have released a suite of resources focused on the use of nature-based solutions (NbS) to prevent pollution in the automotive industry. These resources were made possible through funding from the EPA Region 4 Source Reduction Assistance (SRA) Grant Program, which supports pollution prevention across the southeastern region of the U.S. Click Here
