SP Meets on November 3 in Southfield

SP’s 4th Quarter membership meeting was held on November 3 in Southfield, Michigan.

SP was pleased to welcome Betty Sutton, Administrator of the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC), to discuss SLSDC’s work to support and advance maritime shipping in the Great Lakes region.  Ms. Sutton shared information with SP members on the economic impact of maritime shipping in the region, its environmental benefits, and opportunities that may exist to work together to support shipping needs.

SP members also had the opportunity to hear from Tom Tyler, Acting Director of EPA’s Integrated Environmental Strategies Division, and learn more about EPA’s collaborative work on supply chain sustainability and Sustainable Materials Management. In addition Doug Parker, President of Earth & Water Strategies, shared environmental compliance best practices, and emerging compliance issues for companies to consider.

The meeting also featured presentations from SP member companies Ford, GM, Lear Corporation, and Test America. Members discussed topics such as energy efficiency, materials efficiency, renewable energy, emerging contaminants, and advancing women’s engagement in the auto industry.

SP’s next membership meeting will be held on January 19, 2017 at the GM RenCen.
