DENSO is investing nearly $1 billion in North America over the next four years, which will result in more than 2,000 jobs across the region. Ford's recycling and remanufacturing program has kept 120 million pounds of damaged vehicle parts from landfills since 2003, effectively ending the days when the crack of a headlamp or crunch of a bumper would render useless such components. The Core Recovery Program oversees collection, remanufacturing and recycling of damaged parts - everything from small sensors and fuel injectors to large engine parts - from Ford vehicles that have been repaired through the company's dealer network. Honda Transmission Mfg. of America, Inc. has announced an agreement with Juhl Wind, Inc. of Pipestone, Minn., to develop, install, and operate two utility scale wind turbines to generate electricity for the plant's operations. Once the turbines begin operating later this year, Honda indicates the transmission plant in Russells Point, Ohio will be the first major automotive manufacturing facility in the United States to obtain a substantial amount of its electricity directly from wind turbines located on its property, while also reducing CO2 emissions from this renewable energy source. Honda automobile assembly plants in Ohio have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR certification for the sixth year, while its assembly plant in Indiana earned the designation for the first time, boosted by energy efficiency gains from the start of a second shift of auto production.

For the eighth consecutive year Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Team Members held a toy collection and fund raising drive during the month of December to support the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign. Team Members purchased 442 bicycles and filled several boxes with toys. Team Members from every area of the plant shopped at local department stores to find bicycles and toys for all ages.
