DaimlerChrysler joins environmental
group
Automotive News / January 12,
2004
WASHINGTON - The auto industry's Suppliers
Partnership for the Environment has expanded to include
another car manufacturer.
The Washington
organization says DaimlerChrysler has joined the group
geared at increasing environmental initiatives in the
industry. The group comprises nineteen other companies
in the auto industry as well as the EPA.
"This
partnership demonstrates that leading companies in the
automobile industry and the government can work together
to identify and address issues that will bring about a
positive impact for the environment," says Reginald
Modlin, director of environmental and energy planning
for DaimlerChrysler.
"It will also improve the
economic viability of the industry and its supply
chains."
The Suppliers Partnership aims to
improve the overall environmental impact of the industry
by sharing information throughout the automotive supply
chain.
DaimlerChrysler's involvement could lead
to more participation in the group, said Gary Mayo,
membership development chair for Suppliers Partnership
and director of corp-orate social responsibility for
Visteon Corp.
By expanding, the organization
should be able to bring more members in from
DaimlerChrysler suppliers as well as interest more
carmakers.
