Toyota hosts SP members at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky
Toyota hosted the 2nd Quarter Meeting of Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) in Georgetown, Kentucky on April 26-27, 2017.
On April 26, Toyota hosted SP members for a tour of the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY where participants had a unique opportunity to tour the distillery and learn how bourbon is produced. The following morning of April 27, Kevin Butt welcomed SP members to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK), the largest Toyota facility in the world. Kevin discussed key environmental initiatives at the zero waste to landfill facility and noted Toyota’s recently announced commitment to reinvest $1.33 billion in the TMMK site. As part of the meeting, SP participants had an opportunity to tour TMMK and learn more about the Toyota Production System.
During the quarterly meeting, speakers from Johnson Controls, Toyota, General Motors, US EPA, World Economic Forum, Plastics Industry Association, Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation, and Starco Lighting shared emerging trends impacting the industry and discussed key opportunities related to items such as advancing a circular economy, working together with public and private partners, and improving environmental performance and competitiveness.
Special thanks to Kevin Butt of Toyota for his support in organizing and hosting an excellent meeting for SP members.
SP’s 3rd Quarter Meeting will be held on July 19 at Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Please contact us if you’d like more information.
