SP Work Group Meets at Argonne to Discuss EV Battery Recycling
On October 22-23, Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP)’s Responsible Battery Work Group held a meeting on EV battery recycling at Argonne National Laboratory.
SP’s Responsible Battery Work Group provides a forum for SP members to work together to advance responsible management of advanced vehicle batteries and the objective of this meeting was to explore pre-competitive collaboration opportunities to address issues related to lithium-ion battery recycling in North America.
On October 22, SP participants had the opportunity to participate in guided tours of various Argonne research facilities related to advanced battery design, manufacture and recycling. The tour included visits and discussions with team leads of Argonne’s Cell Analysis, Modeling, and Prototyping (CAMP) Facility, Post-Test Facility, Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) and new ReCell Center.
On October 23, SP participants reconvened at Argonne to discuss challenges and opportunities in advancing circularity within the lithium-ion vehicle battery value chain, and to identify key focus areas for pre-competitive collaboration going forward. The meeting included speakers from Argonne, ERA Environmental, Ford, Honda and VMX International.
SP members may access presentations and minutes from the meeting on SP’s Members Only site. Please contact us if you’d like more information, or to learn more about SP membership opportunities.
