Save the Date: SP Q4 2021 Membership Meeting

SP’s 4th Quarter Membership Meeting will be held as a virtual event on October 26-28, 2021.

The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) provides a forum for global automotive manufacturers, their large and small suppliers, the US EPA and other government entities from around the world to work together toward a shared vision of an automotive industry with positive environmental impact. 

SP’s quarterly membership meetings provide an opportunity for members to share environmental sustainability best practices and strategies with industry peers and partners, learn about emerging issues impacting the environment and business operations, and identify opportunities for collaborative action.

Q4 Schedule Outline (US Eastern Standard Time)

  • October 26, 10:00AM – 11:00AM. SP Emerging Professionals Work Group. Working meeting of SP EP, supporting emerging professionals in advancing innovative associate engagement initiatives at their companies through benchmarking and collaboration with peers within the SP network. 
  • October 26, 2:00PM – 3:30PM. SP EHS Forum – Evaluating EJ Impacts & Opportunities. The SP EHS Forum is intended to provide an opportunity for deeper, interactive discussions on EHS issues impacting SP members. The focus of this session will be: Evaluating EJ Impacts & Opportunities. An interactive member-led discussion of frameworks / strategies to support companies in evaluating potential environmental justice impacts / considerations when planning new projects, and in identifying and highlighting positive community impacts of ongoing environmental sustainability programs and practices in areas of climate, conservation, circularity and others. 
  • October 27, 9:00AM – 10:00AM. Carbon Footprint of Aluminum. In this session, speakers will discuss current activities and emerging initiatives addressing the energy and carbon footprint of aluminum used in automotive products.  Review of key decarbonization pathways for aluminum and carbon footprint accounting methodologies.
  • October 27, 10:30AM – 11:30AM. Zero Waste. In this session, speakers will share case studies on developing, measuring, and advancing progress on zero waste initiatives in automotive operations. Discussion of industry goals, programs and emerging projects advancing sustainable materials management.
  • October 27, 2:00PM – 3:30PM. SP Responsible Battery Work Group – EVB Recycling. In this session, members will discuss new initiatives and opportunities to advance best practice in responsible lifecycle management of EV batteries.  Discussion of recent industry partnerships, investments and collaborative initiatives advancing circularity of EVBs.
  • October 28, 9:00AM – 10:30AM. SP Q4 Membership Meeting & 2021 Awards Presentation. In this session we will announce the winners of SP’s 2021 Awards, and also hear executive progress reports on SP work group initiatives and emerging opportunities for 2022.
