Goodwill Industries Hosts SP members in Detroit

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit hosted the 3rd Quarter Meeting of Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) in Detroit, MI on July 18-19, 2017.

On July 18, Goodwill Industries hosted a reception for SP members at Shinola’s Detroit Flagship Store.  During the reception, Shannon Washburn, VP of Watch Product Development for Shinola, shared Shinola’s story with participants while Dan Varner, CEO of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, welcomed participants to Detroit and talked about a range of efforts Goodwill is leading in Detroit to advance its social mission.

On July 19, Kathy Laird, VP of Automotive for Goodwill Industries, welcomed SP members to the 3rd Quarter Meeting and provided an overview of Goodwill’s Tier 1 automotive business.  During the meeting, participants were offered a tour of the Goodwill Automotive facility, providing an opportunity to learn more about the populations Goodwill serves and the range of products Goodwill Automotive supplies to the automotive industry.

SP’s Vice-Chair, Russell Brynolf of FTS Technologies, presented an update on SP’s Strategic Direction and new partnerships and projects that SP plans to address to support its mission. Speakers from Antea Group, ERA Environmental Management Solutions, General Electric, General Motors, US EPA and Veolia then shared information on their projects and programs and discussed opportunities related to topics such as biodiversity, data collection and visualization, EHS risks, energy management, environmental STEM education, logistics, and waste management.
